MATTHEWS GROUP was originally founded by Sir S. J. Matthews in the pre-independence era who was involved in export import of Merchandise including Motorcycles of famous brands like Harley Davidson of USA, Triumph and Ariel of UK. The area of business was spreaded to undivided India, which included Pakistan, Myanmar having proper branches since 1931.

Later in the Post independence the Nundys of Calcutta, who have long business history for more than 150 years covering Hosiery to Bicycles and Automobiles took over then Matthews & Co. Sir S. J. Matthews returned to England and settled finally. Nundys were importers of Car like-Mecedes, Studebaker, Fiat and were famous as one of the leading used Car dealers of post independence days which was operated from Park Street, Matthews & Co.

Later on MATTHEWS GROUP under the leadership of S. N. NUNDY (THE PRESENT CHAIRMAN OF THE GROUP) diversified the business to different segment like Two wheelers - YAMAHA of Japan, Construction machines representing JCB of UK, and Material Handling Equipment of ESCORT.

Presently the Group is dealing in Material Handling Equipment representing KION of Germany who are one of the leading brand in the world. KION products are branded as “VOLTAS” are widely popular.

MATTHEWS GROUP provides sales, service, and parts support for entire range of VOLTAS-KION range of products in West Bengal and Sikkim.

MATTHEWS GROUP is dealing in the products of VOLTAS-KION under the name of Matthews Industrial Equipments Trading Pvt. Ltd and has branches in Durgapur, Haripur (near Asansol) and Haldia other than its registered office and one correspondence office in Kolkata.

Matthews Industrial Equipments Trading Pvt. Ltd. was nominated as one of the best dealers in India in the year 2012 by VOLTAS-KION.

Matthews Group under its present managing director Ashis Nundy plan to put the entire focus of the group on the business of logistic solutions and material handling products of the global giant KION group of Germany to tap the growing potencial in India.
